BK21 Scholarship

Approx. 35 ~ 45

KRW 1,000,000(per month/6 months)

1. Full-time domestic and international students in international studies,

2. who do not have four major social insurances (national pension, national health insurance, employment insurance, and industrial accident compensation insurance)

3. who are less than two years master’s degree (within four semesters)

The notice of selection will be posted on the GSIS Website.

1. Incoming Korean students who show outstanding academic potential
2. Distinguished students with outstanding grades during the previous semester
3. Scholarships will not be granted for those who take the following semester off and will expire

1. International students who are newly admitted to GSIS
2. As for the subsequent semester, selection will be made by the Committee of Graduate School of International Studies among those who, at least, satisfy the minimum qualification requirements each semester

The specific amount of the scholarships for international students will be decided after deliberation by the Chair of the Committee of Graduate School of International Studies after final grades are fixed per semester.

1. Students must complete at least 9 credits of courses except foreign language classes and internships in the previous semester, and receive GPA(Grade Points Average) of 4.0 or higher in order to be considered as a candidate of a scholarship recipient.
2. Students must keep enrolled.(cannot take a semester off.)
3. In order to receive scholarship for the third semester, students must complete at least 18 credits in total and take all the core and core elective courses except for “Thesis Research Ⅰ” by the second semester. If a student does not satisfy the above requirements, he or she will not be eligible for the scholarship not only for the third semester but also for the fourth semester.

1. Entrance score is applied for first semester.
2. As for the subsequent semester, the number of recipients and the amount of scholarship will be decided based on the previous semester’s GPA ranking among KU GSIS int’l students.

Selection Priority for students of the same rank

The selection is made according to the following requirements(priority given from A to C) if there are students of the same rank.

• A) Those who acquired more credits in the previous semester;
• B) Those who acquired more credits in core and core elective courses;
• C) Those who have more total credits. However, if the priority cannot be determined, it will be decided by the Chair of the Committee of Graduate School of International Studies.

1. Admission & 100% of the tuition for four semesters (Conditional Scholarship )
2. Housing & Living expense: KRW 900,000/month
3. Airline Fares: One round trip economy class ticket between Vietnam and Korea
4. Dissertation Printing Fee: within KRW 500,000 (Once)

1. Master’s students from Vietnam only
2. Take 9 credits or above (foreign language and internship classes are not counted) and maintain GPA 4.0/4.5 or above

1. Foreign students
2. Academic grades from the last educational institute attended must be within the top 20%.

1. Foreign students who are a government officials in developing countries with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher
2. Must be nominated by his or her Government

Ph.D students: KRW 1,600,000(per month/12 months)

Ph.D candidates: KRW 1,300,000(per month/12 months)

1. Full-time domestic and international students in international studies,

2. who do not have four major social insurances (national pension, national health insurance, employment insurance, and industrial accident compensation insurance)

3. who are less than four doctorate years students (within eight semesters)

1. International students who are newly admitted to GSIS
2. As for the subsequent semester, the international students who satisfy at least the minimum eligibility requirements

The specific amount of the scholarships for international students will be decided after deliberation by the Chair of the Committee of Graduate School of International Studies.

1. Students must complete at least 9 credits of courses except foreign language classes and internships in the previous semester, and receive GPA(Grade Points Average) of 4.0 or higher in order to be considered as a candidate of a scholarship recipient.
