Professor Moonsung Kang had the opportunity to participate in Session 6: “TrAIding into the Future – AI-Driven Opportunities and Managing the Settlement of AI-Related Disputes” at the WTO Public Forum 2025. The discussions offered valuable insights into how AI is reshaping trade procedures, regulatory approaches, and dispute settlement, and it was a privilege to exchange views with fellow experts.

Abstract

The session will explore ways in which Members could adopt AI technology to support and innovate trade-related procedures and to facilitate global trade. The delicate balance between preserving regulatory freedom regarding AI and the need to minimize the administrative burden on the private sector will also be discussed. Similarly, our session will explore the importance of a transparent exchange of information on AI standards and of engaging in normative discussions multilaterally on the role of AI in international trade. Finally, exploring efficient resolution of disputes related to AI in key industries is another theme that will be explored in our session.
