On September 16, Nordic-Benelux Centre and Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence cohosted distinguished lecture series. IKEA Korea’s CEO & CSO, Fredrik Johansson was invited for the lecture and gave a speech on ‘IKEA’s Sustainability for the Better Future.’ More than hundred students who are interested in ESG and sustainability issue had attended the lecture. It started with an opening remark of Professor Jae-Seung Lee. Mr. Johansson’s talk first emphasized his role of CSO, a Chief Sustainability Officer. With the basic objectives of functionality and better life for everybody, IKEA is now trying to pursue the goal in a way that does not harm the environment and people. They are now in a road to sustainable business model, effective at both present and the future. Sustainable consumption, defying climate change and inequality issues are some major issues, which IKEA tries to solve with company run RE100, building urban farm and offer Buy Back Program. The Q&A session followed, and finally, the lecture ended with the closing remark by Professor Lee.
