안보정책 연구소에서는 안보 분야의 여러 주요 현안들에 대해 국내외 안보 전문가들의 심층적인 토론을 통하여 다양한 안보 문제를 고민하고 정책적 방향을 제시하고자 매년 심포지엄을 주최하고 있습니다.
올해 심포지엄은 <신흥기술 경쟁과 한미동맹의 미래>를 주제로 진행될 예정입니다. 이번 심포지엄은 평화와 안보, 그리고 한반도 통일에 관한 쟁점들을 미국과 한국의 관점에서 시기적절하게 다루고, 각국 전문가들을 초빙하여 동북아 안보지형에 대한 유의미한 토론과 분석을 통해 향후 전망을 제시하고자 합니다.

한미동맹 70주년을 맞아 저희 춘계 심포지엄은 신흥기술 경쟁이라는 새로운 안보환경에서 한미동맹이 나아가야 하는 방향을 모색해 보고자 합니다. 핵심·신흥 기술(CET), 강대국 국제정치 (great power politics), 복합위기(global poly-crisis) 로 변화하는 안보지형과 심화되는 신기술 경쟁 속에서 한미 양국의 기술-군사 혁신을 위한 협력방안 무엇인지 미래지향적 안보관계의 발전방안은 무엇인지 살펴보고, 한미동맹의 과거-현재-미래를 포괄적으로 검토해 보는 토론의 장을 마련하였습니다. 본 심포지엄을 통해 전문가들의 식견을 공유하고, 한미동맹의 발전과 한미협력의 증진에 대한 실효성 있는 전략과 정책방향을 생각해 보기를 바랍니다.
