KU GSIS BK21

Brain Korea 21 (BK21) is a government scholarship program that runs every seven years since 1999 and aims to cultivate outstanding scholars who take the lead in responding to social changes.

Korea University GSIS has been selected as one of the implementing institutions for Phase 4 of the BK21 program for the project period September 2020 to August 2027. The program’s goal is to foster experts in 'Glocal conflict management for an inclusive society'. Through resolving glocal conflict, KU GSIS BK21 aims to contribute to growing exports for job creation, building a sympathetic society through communication, and enhancing peace and human security on the Korean Peninsula.

The program supports graduate students' academic activities through:

  • Support for participation in academic conferences
  • Seminars and special lectures
