2021학년도 2학기 국제대학원 특별휴학 시행 안내
코로나19 감염증 사태가 계속적인 “심각단계”로 전 세계에 확산됨에 따라 2021학년도 2학기에 한해 코로나19 감염증 관련 특별휴학을 시행하고자 합니다. 특별휴학은 휴학기간 및 재학기간에 산입 되지 않으며 신입생도 신청할 수 있습니다.
□ 코로나19관련 사유로 인해 학업을 시작·지속할 수 없는 경우에 한하며 2021학년도 제2학기에만 한시적 시행함
1. 대상: 국제대학원 신입생, 재학생, 수료생으로 다음 가, 나 항목 중 하나에 해당하는 경우
가. 코로나바이러스감염증-19 확진환자 및 자가격리로 학업을 시작 및 지속할 수 없는 자
나. 특별휴학 신청일 기준 해외에 체류·방문 중이면서 국내입국이 어려운 국제대학원생
- 한국발 입국자에 대한 입국제한 조치 실시 국가는 외교부 해외안전여행 홈페이지
(http://www.0404.go.kr/)에서 확인 가능
2. 휴학신청기간 및 등록금 환불 금액
가. 신청기간 : 2021년 9월 3일(금) ~ 9월 13일(월) 16:00까지
(전액 환불 희망자의 경우 반드시 위 기간에 신청해야 함)
이후 11월 30일(화) 16:00까지 신청 가능
※ 9월 14일부터 주임교수(1, 2학기생), 지도교수(3, 4학기생)의 개별 인터뷰 진행 예정
나. 신청장소 : 국제대학원 행정실 (gsis@korea.ac.kr)
다. 등록금 환불 금액
1) 등록금 납부 후 9월 16일(목) 16시까지 특별휴학 신청 및 인터뷰 완료 후 특별휴학 승인을 받은 학생에 한해 신입생은 입학금을 제외한 수업료 전액, 재학생은 수업료 전액 환불됨
2) 9월 17일(금)부터는 “등록금 반환 기준”에 따라 환불함
라. 장학금 수혜자의 경우 코로나-19관련 사유에 의한 특별휴학에 한하여 장학금 전액 환수처리
※ 단, 아래의 조건을 충족하여 다음학기(2022년 1학기)에 복학하는 경우에만 장학금 이월 가능
1) 특별휴학에 대한 사유가 종료된 즉시 복학하는 경우에 한해 장학금 이월지급을 허용함
2) 코로나-19 장학금 이월지급은 교내장학금에 한함.
(외부재단에서 지급하는 장학금의 경우, 해당 재단의 방침을 따름)
3) 기타 사유로 인한 휴학의 경우에는 기존 운영방침을 동일하게 적용
(장학생이 휴학할 경우, 장학생 자격 취소)

가. 특별휴학원서 [양식1]
나. 확인서(주임교수 또는 지도교수) [양식2]
다. 증빙서류 (*필수제출)
- 감염증 의심(격리)환자 및 확진환자에 해당하는 경우 증빙서류 제출
- 비자발급이 불허의 경우 관련 증빙서류 제출
라. 등록금 환불 신청서 [양식3] : KUPID에 학생 계좌번호 필히 등록
4. 기타
가. 2021년도 2학기에 한하여 한시적 시행함
나. 신입생 첫 학기의 경우, 반드시 등록 후 휴학 신청을 하여야 함
다. 2021학년도 2학기 교내 장학금 수혜자의 경우는 다음과 같음
- 원칙적으로 장학금 전액을 환수처리함
- 단, 코로나19 관련 사유에 의한 특별휴학자의 경우,
1) 2022학년도 1학기 복학하는 경우에만 장학금이 이월됨
2) 2022학년도 1학기에 복학하지 않는 경우 장학금은 소멸됨
라. 코로나19 특별휴학은 휴학기간 및 재학연한에 미산입함

[COVID-19] Special Leave of Absence Fall Semester 2021
Graduate School of International Studies(GSIS)
As the Covid-19 Pandemic continues to spread around the world, Special Leave of Absence can be permitted only Fall Semester 2021 exclusively. This case will not only be excluded into the total period of Leave of Absence but also not be calculated during your study in KU, which Freshmen can also apply for.
□ Temporarily, this Special Leave of Absence is possible to apply in case a student can’t start this semester and continue the study due to COVID-19 situation he/she can have during 2021 Fall Semester.
1. Eligibility : Freshmen/Enrolled/Completion of Course Students who meet one of the below conditions as students of Graduate School of International Studies
A. COVID-19 infected or confirmed patient who can’t start semester and continue study
B. Who can’t come to Korea from countries where the restriction of arrival to Korea effects
at the time you apply Special Leave of Absence for Fall Semester 2021
- Only who stay in the countries as indicated at http://www.0404.go.kr/ from
MOFA(Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
2. Period of Application and the Tuition Refund Policy (only for Fall Semester 2021)
A. When : from September 3(Fri.) ~ September 13(Mon.) 16:00, 2021
(In case students who want 100% of tuition refund, students must apply during the above period.)
If not, application is possible until November 30(Tue.) 16:00, 2021
※ From September 14(Tue.), Chief Professor(for students in 1st , 2nd Semester) or Advisory Professor(for students in 3rd, 4th or above semester) will individually conduct the interview arranged by Administration Office for the applicants.
B. Where to apply : KU GSIS Administration Office (gsis@korea.ac.kr)
C. Tuition Refund
1) Students who apply, complete the interview by telephone or ZOOM, and receive approval for the special leave of absence by September 16(Thu.) 16:00 can get a refund.
a. In case of freshmen, 100% of tuition fee except entrance fee
b. In case of enrolled students, the 100% of tuition fee
2) From September 17(Fri.), it’s possible to be refunded based on “General Tuition Refund
Policy” not following above condition.
D. In case of awardee of scholarship for this semester, all amount of scholarship will be
redeemed if you’re confirmed as a student for COVID-19 Special Leave Fall Semester 2021.
※ If you can meet one of the below condition, and return to school next semester (Spring semester 2022), your scholarship offered this semester can be carried over and permitted to Spring semester 2022 only.
1) If you return to school right after solving your issues related with COVID-19
2) This can be eligible to only for scholarship awarded from Korea University not other
institution. (Regarding Foundation Scholarship, you should follow the guideline from them.)
3) For other reasons except the above, basic guideline and regulation of scholarship is
applicable. (Scholarship awardee basically can’t preserve the qualification of that
if they apply for the leave of absence.)
3. Documents needed
A. Special Leave of Absence Application [Form 1]
B. Confirmation Letter (Chief Professor(Students in 1st, 2nd Semester)
or Advisory Professor (Students in 3rd, 4th or above semester)) [Form 2]
- Please fill out the student information part and submit the document.
C. Evidence Material (*Mandatory)
- Confirmation document verifying COVID-19 infected or confirmed patient (if possibly having symptom)
- Official document indicating visa issuance not permitted from the embassy/consulate
(Applicable documents to prove your denied visa)
D. Tuition Fee Refund Form (mandatory to be refunded) [Form 3]
(In case of Korean Bank Account, the account number should be updated at KUPID-portal.)
※ You don't necessarily need to fill out and submit the form 4.
Please make sure that you give us enough information for us to complete the form 4.
4. Reference
A. “Special Leave of Absence” is available only for Fall Semester 2021.
B. Freshmen should register for this first semester and then can apply for special leave of absence and tuition refund.
C. In case of recipients of KU GSIS Scholarship Fall semester 2021,
- In principle, KU GSIS scholarship will be redeemed.
- Only in case that one's confirmed Fall semester 2021 Special Leave of absence,
1) scholarship will be carried over only if one return to GSIS Spring Semester 2022.
2) scholarship will be extinct if one do not return to GSIS Spring Semester 2022.
D. The period of Special Leave of Absence will not only be excluded into the total period of Leave
of Absence, but also not be calculated during your study in KU.
