Jean Monnet Chair Program

The Jean Monnet Chair Programme is the most prestigious award bestowed by the European Commission and aims at stimulating teaching, research and reflection in the field of European integration studies at the level of higher education institutions within and outside the European Community. The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission is the managing organization of the programme. The Jean Monnet Programme has been launched in 1989, and is now present in 72 countries throughout the world. It forms one of key activities of the Jean Monnet Programme. So far, approximately 880 Jean Monnet Chair Professors have been nominated worldwide.

The European Commission has appointed Professor Sung-Hoon Park (2013-2016, 2019-2022) of GSIS and Professor Jae-Seung Lee (2018-2021) of DIS, Korea University, as Jean Monnet Chairs. Within the framework of the Jean Monnet Chair Programme, Professor Park and Professor Lee offer EU-related course every semester, and convene a series of related activities including special lectures, workshops and seminars. The Jean Monnet Chair Programme at the DIS/GSIS, Korea University will be operated in a close coordination with the versatile activities of the KU EU Centre (http://jmeuce.org/) to foster EU studies at Korea University.
